As might be expected, he's suing. Normally, as our society has become so lawyered-up, this wouldn't be an action worthy of support. But this 45-year-old guy got hammered by the university, faculty, and students for having the utter audacity to describe himself as a white African-American. The fact that it's absolutely correct, as he was born in Africa and became a naturalized U.S. citizen many years later, is irrelevant. It's irrelevant because it flies in the face of the politically-correct academic elite, who have somehow taken it upon themselves to decree that only folks with black skin can use the term.
According to the lawsuit, Serodio was summoned to Duncan's office where he was instructed "never to define himself as an African-American … because it was offensive to others and to people of color for him to do so."





To me African-American is offensive by itself no matter what color you are. If being an American isn't good enough for them they can piss off.
