First up, the U.S. Department of Energy - the folks who tell us all how to reduce our "carbon footprint" by conserving energy - have actually failed audits in their own orifices offices.
All told, the auditors estimated that DOE could save more than $1.5 million annually on energy bills if the staff just implemented the government’s own power-saving guidelines. And that’s just at the seven facilities surveyed, the report noted. Department-wide the savings could be greater.
Golly gee, who'd have guessed it? We now have proof that their motto is "do as we say - not as we do". Man-made global worming is just a tool to be used to control the masses.
Next up: all the billions of your dollars "invested" for you by government on "green transport" projects.
Environmental engineers Mikhail Chesterand Arpad Horvathat the University of Californiaat Davis say that when these costs are included, a more complex and challenging picture emerges.
In some circumstances, for instance, it could be more eco-friendly to drive into a city -- even in an SUV, the bete noire of green groups -- rather than take a suburban train. It depends on seat occupancy and the underlying carbon cost of the mode of transport.
Oh, and then there's the nagging little question as to whether fixed rail actually takes people where they want to go. Light rail and streetcars, it turns out, may not be nearly as green as supporters would have you believe - and that's if you adhere to the Religion of Anthopogenic Global Warming. If you're a "denier", then the folly is greatly magnified.
The Religion, however, will be difficult to eradicate, because it has been so widely supported throughout so many political organizations around the world. It's hardly surprising that Russia, recovering slowly from years of socialist policies that crippled their ability even to feed themselves, finds itself still entranced by some socialist trappings. Anthropogenic global warming is a popular subject in the media there; it's just so hard to stop trying to control people. Accordingly, they serve up stories which claim that the recent crash of Air France 447 was caused by...yup, man-made global warming.
“A consequence of global warming is that the frequency and severity of such events (severe weather conditions) is higher,” Aleksey Kokorin, head of Russia’s World Wildlife Fund’s Climate Program, told RT. “Unfortunately, the risk for airplanes, especially in tropical areas above water, will be higher. This could be difficult for pilots to understand.”
Kokorin said that global weather conditions are becoming more severe, and the cause goes back to one source: the acceleration of the greenhouse effect due to the activities of man on earth.
“We are seeing the same with other (meteorological) events… We see more powerful typhoons than before. We see more powerful cyclones from the North Atlantic, which causes very heavy rainfall and floods in Europe. These are different events of the same reason: warmer surface of the ocean due to global warming, which is a result of the greenhouse effect, unfortunately man made,” he said.

Nice one, Max. Keep up the good work.
This crap just cracks me up. Some of these AGW fanatics are just control freaks (fascists) who've found a reasonably effective tool, while others apparently really have swallowed the koolaid. You just gotta laugh, or you'll go insane trying to figure out how anyone could be so deluded.
"This could be difficult for pilots to understand."... ha ha ha ha ha! You're an idiot! Pilots are generally pretty intelligent, and have studied meteorology in much more depth than yourself, apparently. Most have seen weather you've only dreamed of! Go back to school, schoolboy.

I hardly think the DOE serves as an example for anyone.
In any case, their reaction to the climate change problem says absolutely nothing about the scientific seriousness of the problem -- except for petty observers like MRL, who seek only to score points and who continuously avoid a serious discussion of the problem.
Max, your approach is just juvenile.

David,
You could have stopped with "I hardly think", and you'd have 100% accuracy in your post - which it must be admitted, is a rare accomplishment.
You don't seem to have anything much to say, David. "their reaction to the climate change problem says absolutely nothing about the scientific seriousness of the problem -- except for petty observers like MRL, who seek only to score points and who continuously avoid a serious discussion of the problem."
Um. let's see...DOE tells us all how to save energy, yet failed their own energy audits. And the best you can do is to upchuck? Well, that's fine, David.
It shows just how weak your arguments are.
You refer to a climate change problem as though there were such a problem. Unfortunately, climate change happens all the time, and it is driven by extraterrestrial events. Climate change is not driven by human activities. You can look at data from Mars, which clearly indicates that climate change patterns occur across the solar system without regard to any human influence.
Unfortunately, the facts do not support your religious beliefs.
My approach may be juvenile, but that classification system means that you're at toddler level. I hope that there's a pillow close by, so that when you attempt to walk, you won't get hurt.
