Well, okay, he's always acting. But this time, he's speechifying in an effort to head off any potential anti-Muslim sentiment. You know the drill: it's all about Diversity.
President Barack Obama yesterday sought to head off a potential anti-Muslim backlash from the Fort Hood shootings by praising the ethnic and religious diversity of US armed forces.
Obama devoted his weekly radio broadcast to the massacre in Texas. "We cannot fully know what leads a man to do such a thing," Obama said, "But what we do know is that our thoughts are with every single one of the men and women who were injured at Fort Hood." He added that memorial services held by the military worldwide revealed how diverse the organisation was.
"They are Americans of every race, faith, and station. They are Christians and Muslims, Jews and Hindus and non-believers. They are descendants of immigrants and immigrants themselves. They reflect the diversity that makes this America," Obama said.
BO's right. We cannot fully know what leads a man to do such a thing. We cannot fully know much of anything, come to that. But we can make educated inferences, infidels though we may be. We may not fully know why water is wet, but we know that wet it is. We may not fully know why Democratics promise transparency, yet operate in secrecy, nor can we fully know what leads them to continually seek new ways to take that which we have earned, but we know that they will unerringly behave in these manners.
We cannot fully know what leads a Muslim extremist who stated that infidels should have boiling oil poured into their throats to do something like the Ft. Hood massacre. On the other hand, we don't need to. We know enough.
