Samsung is there to help, with new laptops pre-loaded with keystroke loggers. The logger starts up as soon as you power up the machine.
Eventually, a supervisor got on the phone and confirmed that Samsung put the software on the laptop to monitor machine performance "and to find out how it is being used."
"In other words, Samsung wanted to gather usage data without obtaining consent from laptop owners," Hassan wrote.

Computerworld.com is reporting that this is a misunderstanding based on a certain brand of anti-malware app thinking it was a keylogger when it was actually Slovenian language support.
Pretty weird.

I thought I'd removed captcha, Inno. Thanks, I'll look into that. I don't want folks to have to go thru all the stuff just to comment.
On the "misunderstanding": yes, there are conflicting reports, and Samsung claims a misunderstanding. However, I found this more persuasive than the Samsung PR: Eventually, a supervisor got on the phone and confirmed that Samsung put the software on the laptop to monitor machine performance "and to find out how it is being used."
Just me, but if I was gonna buy a new machine, I'd check it before first use. On the other hand, I don't buy new machines - I build them. I know what's in every one of my systems.
