Its the dream of the Sammi. He and his pals keep it alive in Portland.
Nothing says "green" like 16th to 19th-century transportation.
As you can see, bicycles are a Really Important mode of transportation, not only for personal use, which everybody should employ, but also for commerce. That guy in the photo, pushing his bicycle along, was actually transporting a full bedroom set that he bought at IKEA - bicycle haters airbrushed the cargo out, because, well, they're haters.
It's time to stop the divisiveness, don't you think? Let's just agree on some basic ground-rules: it's okay for Sammi and other Leftists to call those who may, for whatever reason, disagree with them, names. It is not okay for you to respond in kind, because that's just hateful. You shouldn't be allowed to point out hypocrisy, because that
is hateful.

In Germany, in the 40s and 50s, almost everybody rode a bicycle - and not for exercise. There weren't any cars (except for streetcars and a few buses). I suspect it was the same in France, Italy, Spain, ...
Everyone was equally poor. I think that's where Samuel the Wise and his henchmen want to take us now. Of course, he'll be riding around in a rickshaw.

I've said for a long time that the Oregonian should go back the 1950's and 1960's style of delivering their papers: newspaper boys (and girls) on bicycles. Put their money where their mouth is on global warming and (added attraction!) bring down youth unemployment.
Heh.

I suspect he'd prefer "bearers".
