The Senate on Monday voted 93-2 to move forward with the Stop Trading on Congressional Knowledge (STOCK) Act, legislation that would prevent members of Congress from making investments and trades based on non-public information.
Is there something in a congressman's job description that requires him (or her) to come up with some dumb-ass name for every bill, specifically so that it can be turned into a cutesy acronym? If so, we need that job description changed, pronto. And if not, we should be allowed to shoot them.
What we really need is an entirely unique bill; one that's never before been considered, but which is grossly overdue:
Stop Harassing Innocent Taxpayers. Let it hit the fan.

I'm going to be pushing for a bill that prescribes flogging for cutsey-pie acronyms.
As an aside, I just may be totally mistaken, but I do believe that there are Federal laws against insider trading (just ask Martha Stewart).
Would it be too much of a leap to ask that that law be extended to include Congress? Or if it says "any person", could we not extend the definition of "person" to include Congressmen?
Further, it's a matter of record that Congressmen's portfolios invariably outperform the S&P 500.

Flogging works for me.
Also, I've always found it offensive that Congress routinely excludes itself from laws that the rest of us are supposed to follow.
