That's the word from an investigative team of engineers to the Troutdale City Council. The roof of their city hall is in imminent danger of collapse - all it'll take is a decent snowfall. And the south portion of the building, where Council meets, is unsafe to occupy, due to shifting substrate.
Fortunately, the nearly 90-year-old building has no historical significance - because the recommendation is to tear it down before it falls down. Adding to the downside, the cash-strapped city has no funds available to build a new city hall, so they may be forced to try peddling the property. Perhaps they can meet in the buildings over at Glen Otto Community Park, for the time being.
It is somewhat surprising that Troutdale Councilor Canfield didn't report any of this over on his blog, but that may be due to preoccupation with the little brouhaha that's going on regarding the new city cop shop which is currently under construction: leaders of union electricians are mightily perturbed that the city awarded the electrical work to a non-union company.

I've posted some information regarding Troutdale city hall at the Troutdale, Oregon Facebook page I moderate at http://www.facebook.com/Troutdale.Oregon
There are several issues involving the status of the city hall, and I'm writing something for my blog which should be ready by the weekend.
(By the way, I am no longer on the Troutdale City Council, and have renamed my blog to simply "Troutdale Canfield" which can be found at http://www.robertcanfield.com. Thanks for your readership!)

Apologies for the oversight - you served for a number of years, and so I do tend to think of you as a Councilor. I think the link works (it does when I test it), so not entirely bad.
I was just hoping to see some material there, as for some reason I have misgivings about relying on The Zero for information. Thanks for the additional link; it's been stashed for future reference. You blog's on my update list; when something new gets highlighted, I check. After The Zero story, I went over to see if my bot missed something - it can happen. Nothing there; disappointing.
No dissing; site updates are hard to do. If I miss a couple of days, I get gripes from the freakin' east coast. It's amazing, how similar people are - particularly when it comes to expectations of government.

Perhaps they could set up a big revival tent in the Formerly Occupied city park.

Glen Otto Park's got buildings that might handle snow. Tents - not so much.
