Legacy's Salmon Creek, Washington facility laid off 30 people. That made the news. Oddly, the 332 they cut from the Portland area facilities didn't seem to get any media play at all. Portland's trying to protray itself as "business-friendly", but it doesn't seem to be a winning strategy.
The Salmon Creek hospital cuts were part of 362 layoffs made in Oregon and Southwest Washington by Portland-based Legacy Health System.
The bulk of the layoffs — all of which took place by Feb. 15 — came from the health care system’s Oregon locations.
