After the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry abruptly cancelled permission for the Oregon Chapter of the American Meteorological Society to hold its meeting at OMSI facilities, the Society scrambled to find an alternative location, and shortly landed at the Portland Airport Shilo Inn Convention Center; the meeting occurred on 25 January 2012, and more than 500 attended. OMSI bowed to political pressure in cancelling the original venue, which featured a discussion of "anthropogenic" global warming.
