When an 11-year-old boy riding his bicycle around his nortwest Washington, D.C. neighborhood was attacked by three pit bulls, a neighbor who witnessed the attack ran into his home, retrieved a gun, and shot one of the dogs. A nearby police officer heard the shots and arrived on-scene; he shot the remaining two dogs who were continuing to maul the boy.
The boy survived, but suffered severe lacerations. The incident is now under investigation, and the neighbor who first responded may be charged:
While public opinion might be supportive of the man’s actions, he could still face significant charges depending on the outcome of the investigation, criminal defense attorney Daniel Gross said.
Let no good deed go unpunished.
