Having already blamed both Sarah Palin and government-sponsored racism" for the city's high level of murders and shootings, Chicago police chief Garry McCarthy yesterday went on record with a new culprit: the 2nd Amendment. Not only does he believe that the Amendment limits Americans to possession of a smooth-bore musket, he expressed his conviction that firearm owners who lobby their elected representatives or who donate money to political campaigns are engaged in corruption that endangers public safety. He also believes that each firearm owned by civilians should be subject to mandatory application of tracking devices.
As with all Leftists, being wrong is no reason to stop efforts to control everyone else. Blaming Palin went nowhere, and playing the race card didn't work either - especially after an inconvenient fact emerged:
Last year, Chicago reported more than 500 homicides, and most involved black men killed by black men.
Surprisingly, the Democrat-founded KKK killed about 3500 blacks over an 86-year period. Black-on-black murders surpass the number of people killed by the KKK every six months.
Undeterred by facts, as is often the case with Leftists, the good chief and Constitutional scholar has moved on; setting his sights, for the moment, upon the Bill of Rights. It's likely that in due time he'll shift again, finding something or someone else to blame. But being a good Leftist, we can be certain that there are two things he will not blame: rainbows and unicorn farts; both staples of Leftist ideology.
