Detroit's Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick, Indicted... Convicted!... RESIGNS! (Photo credit: "CAVE CANEM")
More Democratics are facing jail time; the latest three hailing from Detroit, Michigan, where former mayor Kwame Kilpatrick was convicted this morning on some two dozen counts of bribery, extortion, racketeering, mail fraud, wire fraud, and tax evasion - all federal crimes. His pal, Bobby Ferguson, was also convicted of racketeering, bribery, and extortion. Some of the crimes carry penalties of as much as 20 years in prison. Even Kwame's dad didn't get off; the old man was convicted of filing a false tax return.
Much like former Rep. William "cold cash" Jefferson, who was found with $90,000 inexplicably stashed away in his freezer, Democrats had high hopes for Kwame. In both cases, greed overcame them before those hopes could be realized.
Meanwhile, Illinois blabbermouth Jan Schakowsky, apparently not recognizing that she was speaking to a conservative videographer and investigative reporter, affirmed that going after "assault weapons" is only the beginning:
Schakowsky: We’re on a roll now, and I think we’ve got to take the--you know, we’re gonna push as hard as we can and as far as we can.
Mattera: So the assault weapons ban is just the beginning?
Schakowsky: Oh absolutely. I mean, I’m against handguns. We have, in Illinois, the Council Against Handgun... something [Violence]. Yeah, I’m a member of that. So, absolutely.
She's not telling us anything we didn't already know, but it's kind of refreshing to see her come right out and admit it - even if she didn't realize she was doing so at the time. Undoubtedly, like Oregon State Sen. Ginny Burdick (D-Portland), she'll try to play the "victim" card while vowing not to be intimidated".
So on the one hand, a player in the Democrat leadership in the U.S. House of Representatives makes it clear that yes, Virginia and other Democratics really do plan to implement a ban on all guns, while on the other hand, the Democrat-run Department of Homeland Insecurity is already deploying MRAP armored vehicles around the country. Why would they need vehicles designed to resist mines, bombs, and 50-caliber shots - with gun ports - in the USA? For that matter, why are they ordering 1.6 billion rounds of ammunition; enough to fight a war for 20 years? And why, sequester or no, are they spending $50 million on new uniforms and body armor?
That's a lot of cash - and a lot of lethality - that they're throwing around in the name of "Homeland Security".
