Although Oregon gov. Retread is presently vacationing in Bhutan, his mothpiece sent a strongly-worded admonition to legislators. Problem: the legislators aren't in Oregon, they're in Washington. And however firmly Kitz the Ditz stamps his little cowboy boots, the folks in Washington state don't care.
But in having his boy issue the statement, the long-time pal of child rapist Neil Goldschmidt made it clear that a replacement I-5 bridge across the Columbia River isn't about moving freight and other vehicles. It's not about commerce, and it's not about removing transportation bottlenecks. It is all about a shiny choo-choo line into Vancouver (never mind that the city's already served by AmTrak, which just happens to run into Portland several times a day).
"Governor Kitzhaber has been clear from the start: No light rail. No project. No kidding," Tim Raphael, a spokesman for Kitzhaber, said in a statement released Monday.
What a pathetic little ultimatum. Ideally, the folks across the river'll tell the drugstore cowboy to take his boots and stuff 'em.
