Oregon's ever-watchful Department of Energy broke the state's rules and their own regulations in order to hand wind scammers an extra $20 million in tax credits for the Shepherds Flat windfarm along the Columbia River in the northeastern part of the state. One of The Oregonian's few remaining actual reporters, Ted Sickinger, does an excellent job of callng the renegade agency to account. The short version:
They decided to define Shepherds Flat wind farm as three separate facilities and provide its owners three separate $10 million tax credits.
The New York company that built the installation gets the cash, California gets the power, and Oregonians get the dead wildlife and the eyesore. And we're only paying them $30 million for the privilege!
