To the surprise of no one, Oregon's gov. Retread showed up with the First Squeeze to announce that he's going for a fourth term. Predictably, Multnomah County Republicans issued a statement panning Retread, noting that he and the First Squeeze took a junket over to Bhutan in the middle of the last legislative session, ostensibly to study "Gross National Happiness". As well, he hired a guy named Rudy Crew to be the state's Chief Education Officer, paying him $280,000 to do absolutely nothing.
They also slammed him over the light rail bridge into Vancouver that nobody wants (otherwise known as the CRC), his support of public employee unions that are currently bankrupting the state, and his failed "SmotherOregon" health insurance exchange, which became a national laughingstock.
And while everything they cite is true, MultCoGOP claims that Rep. Dennis Richardson is a "strong candidate" for the office, citing his legislative, budgetary, and math skills - all of which Retread seems to lack. However, Richardson is anything but a strong candidate, despite those unquestioned attributes. He's not exactly a maverick; more like a loon.
Jon Justesen seems to offer greater stability, and given his success in business, appears to be the better candidate.
Oddly, apart from the usual flaming regressives, most people seem underwhelmed with Retread's push for another term.
