Rasmea Odeh, 69, who was a co-organizer of the recent "Day Without A Woman" protests that took place earlier this month, is going away.
An activist with the Arab American Action Network, Odeh was alleged to be a member of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP), a designated terror group. She was convicted in Israel in 1970 of taking part in two bombings the year before, one at a supermarket in Jerusalem and another at the British consulate. Two Israeli students were killed in the supermarket bombing. Nine were injured in the two blasts.
Odeh was freed from prison in 1980 as part of a prisoner exchange. She emigrated to the U.S. in the 1990s and gained citizenship in 2004.
She was convicted in federal court here in the USA in 2014 of immigration fraud after it was determined that she lied on visa and citizenship documents regarding her terrorism convictions and association with terror organizations. She has now accepted a plea deal under which she will be stripped of American citizenship and deported to Jordan, but will not face imprisonment here.
“Under this current, racist political climate, and facing 18 months or more of imprisonment, as well as the possibility of indefinite detention by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), Rasmea has made the difficult decision to accept a plea agreement,” reads a statement from Rasmea Defense Committee.
It's of passing interest to find that, according to her Leftist supporters, not wanting to harbor a lying Muslim terrorist in our midst is now indicative of racism; I was unaware that "Muslim" is now a "race". But certainly, it's a difficult act of bravery to accept a plea deal in order to avoid further time in prison!
Under terms of the agreement, she will plead guilty to "unlawful procurement of naturalization", lose her citizenship here, and will be promptly deported. Her other option was indefinite prison time in federal facilities. A "difficult decision", without doubt. Hope she remembers to pack a burka.
