This whole global warming hysteria is just a hoot! Record low temps in New York, farmers in Colorado battling daily snowfall as hay is airlifted in to feed starving cattle, frozen citrus in southern California. Anchorage, Alaska has so much snow that they can't plow: there's noplace to put all the stuff. And next up: the battle of the experts.
The Northwest's fishwrapper, The Oregonian, offers up a hit piece on George Taylor because he disagrees with the conventional view that humans are causing all this global warming. They prefer the line that global warming isn't real - when in reality, Taylor's view is that there are cycles in climate, and that humans aren't presently capable of affecting them to any significant degree.
They prefer to go with the flow; citing Philip Mote, the state climatologist in Washington, who is part of a University of Washington research group that is trying to prepare the region for the hard realities of human-caused global warming: shrinking mountain snow that leaves rivers short of precious summer flow, for example.
You think we need to worry about that this year?
The fact of the matter is that "meteorologists" can't get the next day's weather right, most of the time. Just look at the "surprise" snowstorm that hit PDX a couple of weeks ago. If they can't get weather a day before it happens, why the heck would you believe that "climatologists" can look thirty to fifty years into the future with more accuracy?
Remember that in the 1970's we were told that a new ice age was upon us, and that today glaciers would extend clear to the equator.
One definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again, yet expecting a different result. Another involves listening to the same stuff over and over again.
