Oregon is the only state on the West Coast that openly acknowledges that it issues driver licenses to illegal aliens. And a lot of folks are taking advantage of the fact. Unreported in the bird-cage liners, the fact remains that individuals are literally flying cross-country to get into Oregon so that they can obtain - at little cost - a valid Oregon Driver's license. Valid at present, anyway, as hizzoner the Guv and the other political and bureaucratic apparatus in Oregon have made clear their intention not to abide by the federal Real ID Act. This means that ODLs (already declined as valid identification in at least two states) will soon not be sufficient identification to permit you to board a plane, nor to travel to Canada. Oregon politicians continue to beat that "progressive" drum (though it sounds increasingly hollow) - and in the process, beat citizens half to death even as they bend over backwards to accommodate non-citizens.
What, exactly, does it take for Oregon citizens to buy a clue? It can't be lack of money - Ted'll tax anything and everything. It's only a matter of weeks before he unveils a plan to reduce our "carbon footprint" by applying a tax to your average rate of breathing, using the money thus obtained to buy tree seedlings and to hire illegal aliens to plant them. It's all for your own good, though - sort of like buying "carbon offsets".
As Nike and Adidas promote increased carbon dioxide generation due to their bizarre emphasis upon exercise, we can expect to see hizzoner the Guv go after them personally. After all, hizzoner prefers bowling, which produces much less carbon dioxide by participants. By contrast, environmentally-unfriendly companies such as Nike and Adidas promote wasteful expulsion of carbon dioxide because they're geared toward things like track and field, basketball, soccer, and other environmentally-insensitive activities.
Oregon presently leads the way, nationally, in the organized effort to return America to the status of a third-world nation. The ideas are very clear: drive out businesses, because they're bad. The recent complicit actions by the City of Portland in regard to the shutdown of a 112-year-old furrier enterprise amount to only one of the more visible displays of this perspective. They stood by and helped the Schumacher store go under. It seems clear that it's only a matter of time before they go after the Shoe-makers.
Successful businesses are moving out so that Portland can make room for more hot-dog cart vendors - and of course - more drug dealers. Thankfully, illegal aliens are more than willing to do these jobs. They come here for the "valid" identification. And they stay, because increasingly, that identification is only "valid" in one state.
