As noted previously, you don't call it The Interstate 5 Bridge. You call it "Columbia Crossing".
By the same token, you don't refer to whack-jobs as jihadists, Islamo-fascists, and mujahedeen. Nope. Governmental bureaucrats are struggling mightily to come up with terms that won't offend Muslims. The term takfiri is both more accurate and less likely to give offense to normal Muslims, insofar as it refers to the practice of bin Laden & Co. of declaring Muslims who disagree with their extreme teachings as apostates.
Here's a novel concept:
When the Muslims stop offending me, then maybe I'll worry about not offending them.
I'm no Bill Clinton. I don't believe in parsing words. I think most people know what the meaning of the word "is", is. And quite frankly, I don't give a rat's heinie nor a pig's intestine about the poor damn Muslims and their "feelings". If they get all worked up over a term like "Islamo-facism", or a cartoon, then that's their problem - not mine. I tend to get a bit more worked up over holy acts like strapping bombs onto people so they can go blow themselves up, along with a whole lot of other folks who just happen to be unfortunate enough to be in the area at the time.
If these freaks want respect, they should buy a clue. What they do makes them reviled, and once that happens, respect is pretty well out the window. Nobody ever respects that which they have come to associate with debauchery, butchery, and random acts of mindless violence.
I'm not saying, by any means, that all Muslims are whack-jobs. What I am noting is that the vast majority of whack-jobs are self-proclaimed Muslims. Virtually every murderous, terrorist act carried out during the course of the past three decades has been committed by Muslims.
Many people abhor the very idea of "profiling". I think we need more.
In the 21st century, there is no reason to tolerate a mindset that is stuck in the third century.
