CNSNews.com) - The Department of Justice (DOJ) has launched an investigation of the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office in Arizona following requests by congressional Democrats and allegations by liberal activists that the department has violated the civil rights of illegal aliens.
Reps. John Conyers (D-Mich.), Jerrold Nadler (D-N.Y.), Zoe Lofgren (D-Calif.), and Robert Scott (D-Va.) requested the investigation, and activists groups such as National Day Laborer Organizer Network and ACORN launched petition drives and rallies in support of the probe.
This is interesting; it's unclear exactly where in the Founding documents of our nation that illegal aliens are granted civil rights. At least superficially, it appears as though Democrats have been pulling political strings in order to harass a law enforcement officer for enforcing the law. And where have we heard that ACORN acronym? Gosh, it just seems so familiar, somehow.
It looks as though the sheriff and his staff are simply here, doing the job that too many Americans won't do.
20 percent of inmates in the Maricopa County Jail are illegal aliens and...of those, 2,000 illegal aliens - 70 percent - were arrested for felony crimes.
70% felonies. Dang. You can see why the folks who know best, back in D.C., would want to launch an investigation into the office that's doing so much arresting and jailing. After all, why would somebody who commits one crime (like illegal entry) go on to commit other crimes?
