You've gotta love Democrats, the Party of Inclusion.  Or is that the Potty of Inclusion?  They're such loveable folks.  You've got your George Soros, who collaborated with the Nazis, yet famously compared George W. Bush to Adolf Hitler.  You've got your Janeane Garofalo, pushing into middle age with the mental horsepower of a seven-year-old, demonstrating consistently why Airhead America went bankrupt twice, with pungent commentary such as: “The reason a person is a conservative Republican is because something is wrong with them.  That’s science — that’s neuroscience.  You cannot be well-adjusted, open-minded, pluralistic, enlightened and be a Republican.  It’s counter-intuitive.”    Who knew she had a degree in neurobiology?

You've got Rep. David R. Obey (Wis.) and other congressional Democrats jumping right in there to kill an inexpensive little program that affords low-income, minority children a chance at a better education.  Illustrating the hold that teachers unions have on the Democratic Party, David shows himself to be appropriately named: he'll Obey is union overlords.  They don't like school vouchers, and David will ensure that they cease to exist.

And then there's this little beauty: 

Washington, DC -- UK's Lord Christopher Monckton, a former science advisor to Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, claimed House Democrats have refused to allow him to appear alongside former Vice President Al Gore at a high profile global warming hearing on Friday April 24, 2009 at 10am in Washington. Monckton told Climate Depot that the Democrats rescinded his scheduled joint appearance at the House Energy and Commerce hearing on Friday. Monckton said he was informed that he would not be allowed to testify alongside Gore when his plane landed from England Thursday afternoon.

 

“The House Democrats don't want Gore humiliated, so they slammed the door of the Capitol in my face,” Monckton told Climate Depot in an exclusive interview. “They are cowards.”

 

Monckton clearly doesn't quite understand American Democrats: they are the Party of Inclusion!  Whatever could the man be thinking?

Miss California

She could win a discrimination lawsuit, if she chose to file one.

Miss California Carrie Prejean, blasted by a Miss USA contest judge because she opposes gay marriage, may have grounds for a discrimination lawsuit herself — against the Miss USA pageant, a legal analyst says.

Of course, such a suit wouldn't lead to her receipt of the crown, the Manhattan apartment, and other stuff - but it could pay a lot of bills.  It's a clear case of reverse discrimination by a contest judge, and due solely to her beliefs.

Obama's having trouble.  It's a form we've come to recognize—whether on the issue of bonuses for AIG executives or his relationship with his former pastor. He makes a declaration, the issue gets away from him, the political pressure builds, and he must rush in with a new declaration to contain the fallout.

He may be all about Hope'n'Change.  But he eats every meal at the Waffle House.

But Hark! What Wind Through Yon Orifice Breaks?

It is the Stadium.  And somebody over at Portland City Hall, it seems, hath inhaled, and deemed the project malodorous.  In the immortal words of Commissioner Dan Saltzman: this deal smells like a Porta-Potty on a hot day in Juarez!  Or words to that effect.

Happy Earth Day!

Today is Earth Day.  One of a number of fake "holidays" created to get you to buy stuff, ED purports to help you to consider man’s effect on the environment.  You should take time upon this day to study the lint in your navel, to take stock of your life and its impact upon the planet, and perhaps to purchase a few compact-fluorescent bulbs.

You probably won't think much about Ira Einhorn.  In fact, you probably won't even hear his name.  Oddly, one of his claims to fame, that of being a co-founder of the Earth Day "holiday", goes largely unmentioned, these days.  Perhaps that's because this staunch Defender of the Planet also has another name.

The Unicorn Killer.

In 1977, Ira was apparently overcome by rage, and so he murdered his beloved, one Holly Maddux.  How did he treat the body of the woman he loved nearly as much as he loved the planet itself?  He stuffed it into a trunk and kept it in his apartment for a year and a half.  Neighbors, complaining about odor, finally triggered a search of his apartment by police in 1979, where the trunk containing the remains of Ira's beloved Holly was found in a closet in Ira's apartment.

Arlen Specter, currently Pennsylvania’s senior United States Senator, was Mr. Einhorn’s attorney. He managed to get the bail set at the unheard of amount of $40,000 for the suspected murderer. Only 10 percent was needed to free him. Barbara Bronfman, heiress to the Seagram liquor fortune, paid it.

Proclaiming his innocence, Mr. Einhorn told all that he was framed. He said it was the CIA or the FBI who committed the murder and they were trying to frame him for it because of his political activities.

Mr. Einhorn skipped bail and left Philadelphia in 1981. More than a decade passed when the DA's office tried Mr. Einhorn in absentia after being unable to locate him. He was convicted in 1993.

Eventually, Ira was found, extradited, and sentenced to life in prison.

But Ira was the personification of irony, and it continues to this day.

It's hard to argue with the "too much power" part, although as the feds plan to triple the national deficit over the next decade, it's reasonable to question the "too much money" angle.  That angle is simply part of the "too much power" issue. 

Tax cuts, as demonstrated in both the Kennedy and Reagan administrations, stimulate the economy and result in heightened federal revenue.  Rather than follow this tried-and-true formula, however, our federal government has adopted the tactic of borrowing massive sums of money; throwing the cash at large corporations and financial institutions in an ill-fated effort to "grease the wheels" of the economic engines of the country.

This is why you should never hire people who have never held a job in the real world.  They have no concept of economics, and they don't have a clue as to what actually drives the USA's economy.  All they really know is that unions are really important sources of campaign funds, who must be appeased regardless of cost.

Socialism, And Rumours Of Dictatorship

According to The New York Times, President Obama is considering conversion of the preferred stock the government holds in the USA's largest banks to common stock.  The move may seem insignificant to many, but this morning funds manager Bill Ballantine was on the radio, warning that this sets the stage for socialism.  Others are sounding similar alarms.  Writing in The Hill today, Dick Morris notes: It means that the federal government will control all of the major banks and financial institutions in the nation. It means socialism.

But the Hope'n'Change doesn't stop there. Democrats are looking into imposing heavy restrictions on your First Amendment rights. Specifically: A bill making its way through Congress proposes to give the U.S. government authority over all networks considered part of the nation's critical infrastructure. Under the proposed Cybersecurity Act of 2009, the president would have the authority to shut down Internet traffic to protect national security.

The government also would have access to digital data from a vast array of industries including banking, telecommunications and energy.

Sounds good, doesn't it?  Yet the implications are ominous.  The move would render civil liberties irrelevant.  Taken in conjunction with a move to socialize out financial institutions, Democrats would have government decide when and whether you can access cash, heat your home, or communicate by phone or internet.

Liberals were up in arms over the warrantless wiretaps of the Bush administration, but that was nothing compared with what is now poised to happen.  Hope'n'Change, indeed.

Goin' Green!

We're putting a new roof on the house, and these shingles will be whitish-gray.  Trying to reflect a bit of that solar insolation back into space where it belongs.  Thought about having a "green roof" installed, but they're spendy.  Besides, in western Oregon, pretty much any roof becomes a "green" roof about two days after it's installed.

But it all got me to thinking.  We already have a mandated 10% ethanol blend coming out of our gas pumps, thanks to Governor Teddy.  What do we do about oil?  You know we have to reduce our dependence upon foreign oil, but at the same time, the environmeddlists will do whatever it takes to keep us from pumping our own out of the ground.  What should we use instead?

Now, corn oil comes from corn; I get that.  Can't use it in an engine, though.  Vegetable oil comes from various vegetable mixes.

Drill Here, Drill Now

You know how bad oil rigs are.  Drilling for oil and natural gas is simply unconscionable in today's enlightened age.  The burning of such so-called "fossil fuels", as you well know by now, produces "toxic" carbon dioxide.  This is why Global Warming Is All Your Fault.

But what you probably don't know is just how environmentally damaging the drilling and transport operations themselves are.  Many of you probably weren't paying attention when that whole Alaska Pipeline thing got slipped through.

Folks, the science was conclusive:  that pipeline would melt the tundra and eliminate sensitive caribou populations.  And the drilling platforms themselves are an environmental travesty.  This is all common knowledge, today.

Just a couple of teensy little problems:  the pipeline didn't melt the permafrost or adversely affect the tundra.  The sensitive caribou chose to give birth along the route of the pipeline, and populations increased.

Oh, and those terrible drilling platforms?  According to Jane van Ryan, who has been out in the field quite recently in Colorado: Drove past a reclaimed drill pad; the landowner is turning it back into a hay field.

Can't we impose a hefty fee for such productive behavior?

Wow!  Some quick-thinking Farker stole my first thought on this: sorry guys, she's taken.  That's one lucky guy!

On the other hand, although Miss California would likely never engage in such behavior, she's under the gun as well.  She had the unmitigated gall to answer a question from a flagrantly homosexual panelist with honesty and composure.  Oh, my.  Couldn't the self-important little homosexual have shown some of that widely-touted "tolerance" that they spend so much time jawboning about?  Oh, right: "tolerance" is what everybody else is supposed to show.
