Things aren't looking good for Mr. Slimey - nor for the rest of the Portland City Council, actually. Mark Zusman of Willamette Week put out a very cogent editorial, detailing the reasons why you should sign the recall petition that would put Slimey's continuation in office up for a vote. Even better, Zusman notes that if Slimey's all that confident, he should himself sign the recall petition. As well, former state Senator Avel Gordly has signed the recall petition, and in an eloquently-worded release, has urged others to do the same. We've had our disagreements in the past, but Gordly showed a lot of class with this move.
Portland's former (really limp) Mayor made it clear earlier this month that he stands in favor of a recall vote, which ranks among the toughest stands Gramps has taken during the past half-dozen years or so.
And a growing number of folks have made it clear in commentary around the blogosphere that not only do they want our Slimey "mayor" recalled - they're pretty ticked off with the whole City Council over their Laissez-faire attitude. Their silence, many conclude, is tacit approval. And they don't like it.
