Okay, that's a Thanksgiving Day line. In a way, however, the day has arrived early, as Scozzafava has suspended her campaign in New York. While she hasn't gone so far as to endorse the conservative candidate in the race, she apparently realized that her goose is thoroughly cooked. Perhaps she should consider running as a Democrat, next time. It's now a two-man race, and it looks as though an actual conservative has a good shot at winning unless election officials want to count hanging chads or something.
There's a reason why the Scozz hasn't endorsed the conservative: she's so liberal that an endorsement would likely drive voters away.
The success of conservatives in this race and in others should serve as a kick in the butt to both Democratics and Republicans.
But the impact of those candidacies on the high-profile contests points to an anti-incumbent, anti-establishment sentiment that could be a prevailing theme in the 2010 congressional elections and beyond.
