In general, it can be agreed that Democratics are inveterate liars: "oh, we're gonna have the most ethical administration in the history of the country", "oh, we're gonna work in a bipartisan effort", "oh, we're gonna put each bill up on the inertubes for 72 hours before any vote". There is only one constant among Democratics: they lie.
This is why the plan to add a runway to Chicago's O'Hare airport is so controversial, as the new runway runs smack into a cemetery. While officials plan to work "sensitively" in order to see the expansion through, the project could displace as many as 1100 voters. This has the potential of disrupting upcoming elections in both the city and the state. Democratics will be working 'round the clock to ensure that the new resident addresses are properly reflected in voter registrations, so damage should be minimized.
But enough of Chicago-style politics; Barry's looking at a tough putt, here. Fortunately, somebody tried to blow up a plane, which affords Barry the opportunity to improve his lie.
There are many legitimate targets in the political arena. But I don't think that Baucus is among them. The blogosphere has been exploding with allegations that the Democrat senator from Montana was drunk or otherwise impaired when he recently spoke on the floor, and the video links seem to support the claims. But this sort of thing is wrong, and conservatives have no business going there.
Baucus may have been drunk, but there is no evidence to support such a contention. The behavior apparent in the videos (find them yourself) may well be completely unrelated to any alcohol or drug ingestion. He may be exhibiting symptoms of Alzheimer's. All we can really say for sure is that as a Democratic, we can be reasonably certain that some form of brain damage is afflicting him.
Our best thoughts go out to him, and to his loved ones.
Oh, and for the people he's supposed to represent: sorry for your loss.
