(CNSNews.com) - A scholar who served for 40 years as a constitutional law expert at the Library of Congress is pointing to President Barack Obama’s use of military force in Libya without congressional authorization--and, in the longer-term, a lack of effective action by Congress to protect its constitutional prerogatives--as evidence the United States has begun putting an unconstitutional “concentration of power” in the hands of one man.
I've never been an expert - heck, I'm not even pert. But a lot of what this guy's getting away with seems, to say the least, troubling. He's dumped us into two brand-new wars without authorization and with no vital national interests at stake, and now he's dumping part of our strategic petroleum reserves, which are held for emergencies. Well, Barry: what's the big emergency?
According to the announcement:
Washington, DC – U.S. Energy Secretary Steven Chu announced today that the U.S. and its partners in the International Energy Agency have decided to release a total of 60 million barrels of oil onto the world market over the next 30 days to offset the disruption in the oil supply caused by unrest in the Middle East.
Ah! Our partners in the IEA! Our international President strikes again, turning over our assets to foreign countries. Half of the "release" announced by the IEA comes from the US emergency supply. As there are 28 member countries in the IEA, it seems safe to say that the US "contribution" is pretty darned lop-sided.
Of course, some will warn of the "dangers of isolationism", but quite frankly, it seems that we'd be better served by going for a bit of isolationism. Why, out of a total of 28 countries, should the USA shoulder half of the burden of this petroleum release? Maybe, rather than drawing down our strategic supplies, Obambi could authorize resumption of drilling the the Gulf of Mexico, in Alaska, and in other locations.
