Thus far, Portlanders have been subjected to the Sam Adams/Randy Leonard bully party, and while both are thankfully leaving, the breathless candidates waiting in the wings have been nothing to get excited about: failed politician Charlie Hales got the nod from former mayor and long-time Goldschmidt crony Vera "let's cap I-405!" Katz. JefferScam Smith, a slacker who's never met a law he hasn't tried to bend or break, and "C'mon" Eileen Brady have been the most-publicized contenders. Nobody's been giving teenager Max Brumm a snowball's chance - although he's arguably in possession of more maturity than the other three combined.
Now, there's an adult in the room: Scott Fernandez. It looks like Portlanders actually have a chance to get it right.
