Baba O'Riley, an early 1970's Who song that's been widely used in films, ads, and tv fare since, is actually a bizarre mix of composites.
The term, "baba" is listed as British slang for feces, leading one to wonder if that was what Pete Townsend was doing out in the fields after fighting for his meals. Not so, apparently, as the ever-entertaining Wikipedia claims that the title honors an Indian mystic, one Meher Baba, as well as minimalist composer Terry Riley. Evidently, Townsend thought highly of both, according to the entry, and incorporated aspects of both into the piece that he later claimed was inspired by what they saw during their appearance at Woodstock.
Quite possible, as most event attendees were very apparently wasted; a trend which persisted among concert attendees over the course of the next several years.
