The Very Concerned folks have been watching in dismay as ODFW staff brand troublesome California sea lions who've morphed into Oregon river lions, and they're Very Concerned. So Concerned, in fact that they issued a terse press release early last week:
After being branded U349 by Oregon Fish and Wildlife workers in Astoria last weekend, a California sea lion was spotted floating on the Columbia River, suffering and incapacitated, before sinking in the water and dying.
Oh, the horror! Of course, being Very Concerned isn't quite the same thing as actually knowing anything, and their ignorance is on full display as ODFW released photos taken the next day of that very river lion, hauled out and resting on an Astoria dock. In response, the Very Concerned activists sent out another release, stating that they're "not entirely convinced it's the same animal".
Also not convinced that water is wet, sky blue.
Feelings, nothing more than feelings....
