We're not going to be treated to any more of the ads that "Run for Cover, Oregon" spent 8 million dollars to produce. Oh, how terrible. Not that they were worth a damn in the first place; they conveyed absolutely no information - you get more info from a "Shark" vacuum ad. But they were perky, weren't they?
In one of the TV ads, folk singer Laura Gibson sings chirpily that Oregon's spirit is "to care for each one, each daughter and son."
Made ya want to run right out and sign up, didn't it? Except, of course, for the little fact that you couldn't. Apparently, it's occurred to somebody at the brain-trust in Salem that there's no point in running ads for a "product" that nobody can get. Amazing.
