The so-called "Dignity Village" bum camp in Northeast Portland is featured, it appears, in the latest iteration of Rockstar's video game, "Grand Theft Auto V".
Grand Theft Auto V, released Sept. 17, features a homeless camp called Dignity Village -- the name that a non-profit "transitional campground" in Northeast Portland claimed more than a decade ago.
Nancy Mottaz, who identified herself as the camp's CEO, said the non-profit is looking into the situation with an attorney, but declined to comment further.
"Transitional campground", my foot; the thing was supposedly going to be there for only six months, and they haven't "transitioned" into anything. Good grief, at the beginning of this year, Nancy Mottaz and her pals were busted for using two young boys to steal luggage from the carusels at nearby Portland International Airport. She's a real beauty.
If you want to build a shed or do other modifications on your property, Portland demands a permit. Not so for the bum camp, though; they can toss together a shack with a tarp roof and it's all good. 'Cause, you know, "downtrodden" and all.
