Over at the place where the Spandex crowd hangs, they're characterizing this week's Tigard vote as "anti-transit". Nothing could be further from the truth.
What it calls for is greater oversight of "high-capacity transit" projects - which in Metro/Portland/Tri-Met - speak translates into "more two-car toy trains". We neither need nor want rail mucking things up in the area.
They also claim that the vote "throws a wrench" into improving bicycling safety and amenities in southwest suburban areas, which is again a lie misrepresentation; it does no such thing. Tigard is free to continue to participate in SW corridor planning that includes such upgrades for the Spandex crowd, but unlike what we witnessed in Clackamas County, city officials are enjoined from agreeing to rail absent a vote of the people.
Those Spandex folks should consider looser clothing; apparently Spandex causes their panties to twist.
