They're not arresting people unless they absolutely have to, and as for parking violations or public urination - fuggeddabouddit. They're not too happy about the mayor right now.
Police sources said Monday that safety concerns were the main reason for the dropoff in police activity, but added that some cops were mounting an undeclared slowdown in protest of de Blasio’s response to the non-indictment in the police chokehold death of Eric Garner.
Apparently, they have representatives meeting with the mayor as this post is being written; this relationship has been, as one source put it, "simmering for a long time".
