Washington state legislators are looking into restarting an effort to replace the current I-5 bridges across the Columbia River, but Portland Democratic Tina Kotek, Oregon House speaker, is too butt-hurt to consider it; blaming Washington legislators for the collapse of the last CRC effort while conveniently ignoring the fact that former Porkland mayor Sam Adams and former Oregon gov. Retread both issued ultimatums to Clark County residents who opposed their plan to ram Tri-Met's light rail down their throats: "No light rail, no bridge. No joke."
Hey, Tina - they got their wish. Now, if you all are serious about replacing the current bridges, shut up about light rail. It's actually possible to build a replacement that's light rail-capable, should it happen that at some time in the future, Clark County residents decide that they'd like to hook into the Portland-area crime-train lines.
Just get some guts and admit that you and your fellow Portland Democratics killed the CRC project with your "my way or else" approach. Then try actually working with people.
