Apparently, it's illegal to take food from the trash bin at stores over there. This lovely couple has been in court on charges of stealing waste food. Not that it's their fault, really:
Paul and Kerry Barker, 39 and 30 respectively, say they cannot afford to pay for their own food after council bosses stopped their benefits.
They are now forced to live off food thrown out by supermarkets which is past its use-by date.
Sad, isn't it? I imagine that getting a job would be too much of an imposition for them. Sadly as well, they were forced to miss their latest court date as they were stricken with food poisoning.
