Since I didn't care for either the Democrat or the Republican't candidates for president, I didn't vote for either. But the reaction of the Left following the election has been breathtakingly obtuse. Especially in view of the fact that they claim to be paragons of Tolerance™. Obviously, their idea of "tolerance" extends only insofar as one agrees with them. And the explanation for that seems clear:
People on the right think that most people on the left are wrong; people on the left think that most people on the right are evil. Thus the current wave of name-calling, "un-friending", disowning people in their own families, and more. This is a purely Leftist phenomenon; conservatives may not have liked it when OBumbler was elected to office, but we didn't take to the streets with clubs and spray-paint in order to vandalize and smash other peoples' stuff. We didn't set news-stands on fire, nor did we turn our backs upon family members and friends for having the audacity to disagree with our views.
Only the Leftists do things like that.
Many Hillary Clinton voters have ceased communicating with friends, and even family members, who voted for Donald Trump. It is so common that The New York Times published a front-page article on the subject headlined, "Political Divide Splits Relationships – and Thanksgiving, Too."
The article begins with three stories:
"Matthew Horn, a software engineer from Boulder, Colo., canceled Christmas plans with his family in Texas. Nancy Sundin, a social worker in Spokane, Wash., has called off Thanksgiving with her mother and brother. Ruth Dorancy, a software designer in Chicago, decided to move her wedding so that her fiance's grandmother and aunt, strong Trump supporters from Florida, could not attend."
The Times acknowledges that this phenomenon is one-sided, saying, "Democrats have dug in their heels, and in some cases are refusing to sit across the table from relatives who voted for President-elect Donald J. Trump."
So much for their fabled Tolerance™. And indeed, it is nothing more than a fable, as they have repeatedly demonstrated by their actions over the past three weeks.
We may not have liked the self-centered "community organizer", but we didn't exact "punishment" upon those with whom we disagreed. Perhaps that's because conservatives actually think, whereas Leftists tend only to feel, and to react badly when they don't get their participation trophies.
There is now a divide in this country. It's been growing for quite some time, and has now reached the point at which it cannot be bridged. The Leftists won't Tolerate™ a bridge.
