The city of Portland has hired a new manager (at a six-figure salary, naturally) for their transportation bureau, Millicent Williams - Millicent West, before her felony conviction in a corruption investigation - from (of course) the east coast.
The Portland Transportation Bureau's pick to oversee its construction projects has a felony conviction for lying on tax documents tied to a federal corruption investigation that sent a Beltway councilman to prison.
But she has all the right qualifications: shes a woman, she's black, and she's a convicted felon.
The former PBOT parking manager, Ellis McCoy (related to former Portland politician - now thankfully deceased - Gladys McCoy) was sentenced last year to two years in federal prison for taking bribes. PBOT really knows how to pick 'em.
Portland: The City That Works (you over).
If you live here, as we do at the moment, I suggest doing as we are: looking for a place outside of Portland/Multnomah County to move to ASAP.
