Just got a phone call - "private number" = VOIP. Just for giggles, I picked up, and sure enough, I'm told that "my computer is generating a number of errors", and so I should speak to a Microsoft representative who will correct the issues for me. I can't believe that people actually fall for that, but they must.
Because we hope to peddle the house and get the hell out of Portland/Multnomah County, we've begun downsizing; I've taken one of the systems offline and packed it, and am preparing to take another one out. That'll leave us with six, but I somehow don't think I need help from "Microsoft" since I build and modify systems and networks. The latest one is an Intel next-gen CPU with 8Gb DDR and an SSD. AMD makes a CPU that a lot of vendors offer for the same sort of setup, but the Intels run much cooler, so I'm going with that. Hot laptops suck.
I hope to have this one ready for ghosting tomorrow, so I can remove an older system from the network.
