May 18, 1980 was pretty exciting around here, as that's when the mountain blew. Hundreds of homes were buried, 57 people died, some 200 miles of roads were eradicated, and tens of thousands of acres of forest were flattened. The effects were felt for hundreds of miles. Now, according to USGS, it's reloading.
That'll probably take quite a while to complete, fortunately.
