We had some reasonably strong winds here yesterday; 40+ mph on our mountaintop, and I heard it hit 75 in parts of the nearby Columbia River Gorge. Bits of tree are still strung all over the place, and chainsaws are singing. It seems that the high winds hit not merely the Pacific Northwest, but Saskatchewan as well, and in a particularly Canadian twist, power was knocked out to much of the northern part of the province because beavers had been gnawing on a power pole, causing it to topple in the winds. Maybe they ought to consider steel poles in some locations.
And I don't know what it is about British Columbia, hookers and farmers - you may recall the case a few years ago in which a guy was found to have picked up a number of hookers in Vancouver and subsequently fed them to his pigs...now some other guy's at it, as police are searching his 25-acre family farm and are running familial DNA tests on body parts they've found.
In early October, the Vernon North Okanagan RCMP issued a public warning to women and sex workers in the area, saying they were investigating an Aug. 28 incident involving a woman who reported she had been threatened by a man with a gun.
Investigators believe the woman had arranged a meeting with a man in the area of Salmon River Road using a website popular with sex workers and escorts.
Yes, once again, it's hookers and farmers. At least five hookers have gone missing, and now they're finding body parts at a nearby farm.
I'm not sure what the deal is with the farmers, but it's undeniable that southern B.C. is swarming with hookers; seems to be okay up there.
