Manning had speaking engagements planned in Australia starting on Saturday, according to his event organizer Thursday, but the Australian government sent Manning a letter notifying him of the government’s intention to deny him entry, Fox News reported. He failed a character test required for entry.

“A person who has a ‘substantial criminal record’ will automatically fail the character test, regardless of any mitigating factors which attended their offending,” according to the Australian Human Rights Commission.

And as a convict (pardoned after seven years in prison by our America-hating former president), Brad falls smack into that category.

Manning was not allowed to enter Canada in 2017 either, and says he was detained overnight before being told he was denied entry “on grounds of serious criminality,” according to Reuters.

China doesn't want our recyclables; Canada and Australia don't want our trash. So sad, Brad. Not.

 

Cat-Fight: Weather Girl Vs. News Anchorette

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) — A meteorologist at a West Virginia TV station is accused of shoving a news anchor and fracturing her skull.

The Charleston Gazette-Mail reports 26-year-old Chelsea Ambriz is charged with misdemeanor battery. A criminal complaint says Ambriz, who works as an on-air forecaster for WSAZ-TV, shoved station anchor Erica Bivens on Sunday.

Ambriz is due in court Sept. 21.

No word as to what led to the altercation, or whether it occurred in the station or elsewhere. But it seems reasonable to presume that one or both of these ladies will be leaving to pursue other opportunities.

It doesn't appear as though it takes much to become a "meteorologist" or an "anchor" these days.

The Clintons were in Detroit today for Aretha Franklin’s funeral, and after viewing the open casket, the two made their way to different parts of the stage.

As Hillary approached the stairs, two people grabbed each of her arms to help her ascend the handful of steps.

More bad news from Jerry Brown's "bullet train":

Not only is the massive high-speed rail project 11 years behind schedule and billions in the red, managers are now saying they will need to ramp up spending to hit a 2033 deadline. California’s money pit cost taxpayers $3.1 million a day last year.

The California High Speed Rail Authority will have to increase its daily spending by nine times.

Supporters are already singing the "It's Too Big To Fail" song.

Oregon: An e-scooter rider in Portland (where scooters are the latest Big Thing among Portland politicians) wrecked the scooter and injured himself after colliding with a Tri-Met bus yesterday; the second such incident in less than a month.

Portland police are investigating the cause of the crash, although the cause is pretty obvious to anyone who's seen these jokers on the scooters - they don't pay attention to anything around them, they ride them wherever they want to, and they don't wear any protective gear.

The one thing that each of these riders had in common was a straight ahead focus. No awareness of their surroundings. When they veered to either direction they did not check around or behind them, just swerved in/out of moving traffic.

New Jersey:

A man's right forearm was severed after he crashed his motorcycle and was thrown over 300 feet early Thursday morning in a drag racing incident in Toms River and his limb has still not been found, police said. His motorcycle was found over 760 feet from where the crash occurred.

Ronald Vanarsdale, 36, of Toms River, survived the crash after Toms River Police Sgt. Ed Mooney applied a tourniquet where the arm was lost just below his right bicep and was able stop the bleeding, a release from the department said.

Legal Matters

Maine: Asking for a trial continuance, Jeremy Eaton's lawyer cited a moose attack that injured his client, who suffered a broken pelvis and several broken ribs as a result of the incident.

Apparently they startled a bull moose, which is not something you want to do ever, and it became aggressive. The defendant claims he “confronted the moose,” which is virtually always going to be the wrong thing to do, and that he succeeded … initially. But the moose then returned and charged him, knocking him and his snowmobile into a tree. (Moose can weigh well over 1,500 pounds, so this is totally plausible.) The defendant suffered several broken bones. And, while he is recovering, “due to pain, medication, and being unable to move effectively, [he] cannot adequately participate in his defense.”

The judge granted the motion for continuance. After all, there are a lot of moose in northern Maine, so bad interactions aren't uncommon.

No such luck for an enterprising Florida couple, who decided to turn the kitchen window in their trailer home into a heroin-sales drive-thru.

Apparently, they were hoping to avoid suspicion by neighbors, associated with having "customers" constantly entering and exiting the trailer. Didn't work.

They were arrested August 23.

Nutrition "Science": Wrong Again

“The safest level of drinking is none.” This was the stunning conclusion of a big paper that appeared last week in the Lancet — one that prompted dozens of news stories warning of the dangers of even the lowest levels of alcohol consumption.

There's just one problem: the paper's own data show no difference between abstainers and moderate drinkers. Not only is there zero difference in health effects between abstainers and those who imbibe one or two drinks a day, statistician David Spiegelhalter estimated that 25,000 people would need to drink 400,000 bottles of gin to experience one extra health problem compared to non-drinkers, “which indicates a rather low level of harm in these occasional drinkers.”  

Everything in moderation, then.

Jurassic Park - Russia

Reportedly, Russia plans to construct a cloning facility in the world's coldest city, Yakutsk, in the remote north-east of the country. The plan is to work with other scientists "to study extinct animals from living cells - and to restore such creatures as the woolly mammoth, woolly rhinoceros, cave lion and breeds of long-gone horses". 

It seems a bit far-fetched, but it appears that they want to try it, nonetheless.

A few years back, they actually published an article on how to ship a hippo:

Hippos

You'll need:

• 1,000-gallon tank per hippo
• 1,000 gallons of water
• Crane
• 1-pound sedative
• Soothing hippo music
• 2 Aspirin (for you)

How to pack:

1. Fill your tank with 800 gallons of water. Start yesterday. Remember, a medium-sized hippo takes up at least 200 gallons. (Just out of curiosity, why do you have a hippo, anyway?)

2. Apply sedative. Take two Aspirin.

3. Hold it, hold it - put the hippo in the tank, first. Start with soothing hippo music, followed by a large winch and crane.

4. Now go relax in a hot bath before the forklift arrives.

Um. Interesting. Not the way I'd do it. I've shipped a fair number of large animals in my time, and with a hippo, ditch the tank scenario - it's not going to work. Get them used to entering the crate, where they get food, water, and treats. Once they're comfortable, which will take a week or two, load it into a semi and send it on its way. Ideally, you ride in there with it to provide more food, water, and treats as well as the comfort of your presence.

No crane or winch needed. And under no circumstances, whether it be any sort of megaherbivore, do you sedate the animal; that's asking for trouble, and I have refused to agree to it for that very reason. It's best to deal with a lucid animal, especially when it's bigger than you are.
