Oregon's governor on Thursday signed another piece of feel-good legislation into law:
Anna and Abigail's Law, named after Anna Dieter-Eckerdt and Abigail Robinson, then 6 and 11, respectively, will require drivers who suspect they may have caused personal or property damage after a collision to report it to police.
Nearly five years ago, the girls were playing in a pile of leaves that their parents had raked next to the curb in front of their home. They were in the leaf pile when one of Barry's "Dreamers" decided it'd be cool to swerve over and drive through the pile of leaves; killing both girls. She kept driving to her apartment nearby, then sent her brother over to the place to see what she'd hit (she claims she thought she'd hit a rock in the leaf-pile).
After finding that his sister had killed two girls, he returned to his sister's apartment with the information, and they drove to a car-wash, where particular attention was paid to cleaning the underside of the vehicle. Now, why would that be?
Anyway, she was convicted of felony hit-and-run, but our little "Dreamer" had taxpayer-funded lawyers who were able to get that overturned. So the Democratics (re)acted by passing this new law, which our governor from Minnesota signed. Everybody feels good about themselves now!
The fact that it's completely unenforceable doesn't matter; all that matters is feeling good. The only way to prove intent is by self incrimination, and who's going to wade into that? Democratics are really really stupid - or more likely, believe that everyone else is.
