And boy, are people preparing: this thing's expected to make landfall about ten miles south of where my brother lives, and he's been able to see the preparations - he went to Walmart to pick up some bread and milk, and saw a fistfight break out over a case of water. It took half an hour for him to get out of the place.
By contrast, Publix is reportedly prepared:
TAMPA, Fla. (FOX 13) - With Hurricane Dorian swirling toward a possible Florida landfall, residents have flooded stores across Florida – grabbing as much non-perishable foods and water as they can. For Publix, store representatives say they are ready. In fact, they’ve been prepared since January.
And on the plus side:
TAMPA, Fla. (FOX 13) - Dozens of Florida U-Haul locations are offering free self-storage to residents in the path of Hurricane Dorian. The company said 91 facilities in 54 cities across Florida will provide 30 days of free storage to residents.
There is a limit of one per customer.
