PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — The Tillamook County Courthouse is closed until further notice due to an unknown odor that raised concern on Friday, according to the Oregon Courts’ website.
The courthouse on Laurel Avenue was closed to the public around 2:30 p.m. November 8 as a precautionary measure after an odd smell was detected. Out of concern for employees and visitors, the building will remain closed until “the odor can be identified and deemed safe.”
Well, the town always smells like cows. If it's not that, then a defendant was probably cutting cheese in there.
AND...
PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — New Seasons Market is recalling the fresh ground beef sold at three of its Portland-area stores after the meat was connected to a strain of E. Coli that made three people ill, said the Oregon Health Authority.
The recall is for the company’s Cedar Hills, North Lombard, and North Interstate stores, and includes beef with 5%, 10% and 20% fat content. According to the OHA, the contaminated products were bought between October 19 and October 23. If you purchased ground beef from one of those locations within that time frame, throw it away immediately. The New Seasons Market has pulled the rest of the product from its meat counters.
Right on top of it, as usual - OHA didn't issue the warning until three weeks AFTER the product was sold. If more people were going to be sickened, it would have happened by now.
There's an easy way to deal with that meat; it's known as "cooking". When the meat temperature reaches 160 degrees F or higher, the bacteria die and you're good to go.
