Kirkland, WA – Emergency responders put their lives on the line every day. And it isn’t just walking into the line of fire, or for some, walking into an actual fire. It can be in the simplest of aid calls.
Case in point, multiple deaths have been reported in Washington State from the coronavirus. There has been an outbreak at one nursing home in Kirkland. Now, an estimated thirty-four first responders have been put in a two-week quarantine for the coronavirus after responding to that facility.
The Life Care Center experienced an outbreak of coronavirus symptoms among the patients and staff.
13 people at the care center were confirmed as infected; four of them subsequently died. Thus far, six people in Washington state have succumbed to the virus. Care centers are notorious when it comes to infectious transmissions, in large part because the caregivers are often underpaid, poorly trained, and ill-supplied. To date, six deaths have been reported in the state.
Compare that to the number killed in vehicle wrecks every year.
