PORTLAND, Ore. — The City of Portland will close 100 miles of streets to car traffic in an effort to create more space for people to walk, bike or run during the coronavirus pandemic while maintaining proper social distancing. Yeah, what a "progressive" idea!
This insanity and posturing really needed to stop a month or more ago.
Actually, I came down with the virus in early March, before the "scare 'em to death" insanity really got started. And yes, it was nasty: four days and nights in bed, alternately sweating and shivering uncontrollably. When that was over, it took another week to get muscle movement back to normal. Very weird, as I almost never get sick. So it was pretty bad. Fortunately, I didn't tune into the "news". I wasn't interested in eating, watching TV, or turning on a radio. Doing that latter stuff would likely have proven demoralizing.
It was me versus the bug, and ultimately, the bug lost. No talking heads involved.
When I recovered and could move without holding onto furniture or walls, I discovered that the latest thing among talking heads and politicians (who are actually little more than talking heads) was now "social distancing". Yeah, right...I'm about as asocial as you can get, so their talking points are pointless. I probably picked up the virus from handling contaminated money, rather than by chatting with a cashier standing four feet or so away.
All you get is idiocy from the talking heads.
But election day is coming, so don't forget to get out there and vote for another east-coast or Californian "progressive"! After all, Oregonians are stupid hicks who'd have no clue about managing their affairs without the help of out-of-state migrants.
We really need our betters to take care of us.
Ever notice that they're all Democratics?
