I cut down a few troublesome trees at my place a couple of years ago. Cut 'em into burn-sized logs, split 'em, and stacked them in my wood-holder in the garage. Yes, there was a bit of work involved. They're now perfect firewood.
Assuming the forecasts are somewhat close to correct, the splits may come in handy this winter.
