Looks like SpaceX’s Starlink — Elon Musk’s bid to establish his space company as a heavyweight internet service provider using constellations of small satellites — receiver dishes are attracting local cats on cold days. In a recent Starlink customer’s tweet, we counted at least five cats cuddled up on one of the dishes, apparently to stay warm and take advantage of the heat it produces.

“Starlink works great until the cats find out that the dish gives off a little heat on cold days,” Twitter user Aaron Taylor tweeted on New Year’s Eve.

What Is It With Hindus In India And Stampedes, Anyway?

SRINAGAR, India — A stampede at a popular Hindu shrine in Indian-controlled Kashmir killed at least 12 people and injured 13 others on New Year’s Day, officials said.

It must be some sort of cultural thing, but it seems inexplicable.

 

Free Fish, No Limit

Texarkana, a town that stretches through both Texas and Arkansas, experienced a storm on Wed that rained down fish.

The weather in Texarkana on Wednesday was stormy with a chance of falling fish.

That happens more often than you might think, though it's comparatively unusual. They get blown in after being picked up by waterspouts. Some of them even live through it, and can occasionally be found swimming around in large puddles. Though more often they don't survive. But hey, free food, delivered!

Some May Sleep Easier

A serial killer dubbed the UK’s Hannibal the Cannibal will die in an underground glass box after having his Christmas appeal for freedom refused.

Robert Maudsley, aka Britain’s most dangerous prisoner, was told this week he will be incarcerated in his own glass cell until he dies, and cannot make any further appeals against the decision.

The 68-year-old, who murdered child molesters, appealed to be allowed to spend the rest of his prison days with the “general population” but chiefs ruled him too dangerous to mix with prisoners and guards at HMP Wakefield in West Yorkshire.

He will now spend the rest of his life, 23 hours a day, locked alone inside a glass box beneath the jail, with a concrete slab to sleep on, a table and chair made of compressed cardboard, and a toilet and sink bolted to the floor.

Maudsley’s underground cell is a specially constructed 5.5 metres by 4.5 metre space with bullet proof glass cage that was built in 1983, nearly ten years after his prison sentence began. The cell was built for his ongoing murders behind bars. He will never be released.

They could've saved a lot of tax pounds had they retained the death penalty.

Desperado

A mentally unstable bank robber was arrested after holding up a Delaware bank for $150 and then immediately depositing the stolen cash in his own bank account at a nearby ATM, police said. 

McRoberts Williams, 44, was arrested on Sunday after he robbed a Wells Fargo Bank in Wilmington, according to police. 

After he was apprehended, Williams told cops that he traveled to Delaware 'by riding on the exterior of a cargo train' and that 'his mind is currently being controlled by a third party via an implant located somewhere in his body.' 

Williams, of California, had approached a 25-year-old female bank teller and handed her a note that read: 'This is a robbery, I need $150,' according to an affidavit. 

The teller told police Williams said 'I'm sorry' before she read the note again and handed over the money.

He then he fled the bank on foot as she activated the emergency distress button at her teller window. 

Williams did not go far, police said, stopping to deposit his ill-gotten small fortune at an ATM just outside the building.

He probably just remembered that he needed to cover a recent check purchase; you know how bad Wells Fargo dings you for an overdraft...

But at least his food and lodging are covered, free of cost!

The suspect accused of mowing down a crowd of holiday revelers in Wisconsin was captured in a doorbell camera before his arrest pleading for help and telling a resident he was waiting for an Uber, according to video obtained Monday by NBC News.

The Nov. 21 video also shows authorities arriving at the Waukesha home and telling the suspect, Darrell Brooks, 39, to put his hands up.

Hmmm. It's the tail-end of November, it's Wisconsin, and this guy's wearing a t-shirt.

A timestamp on the video shows that it was recorded just after 5 p.m. local time, about 20 minutes after Brooks allegedly tore through parade route barricades, killing five people and injuring dozens more.

"I called an Uber and I'm supposed to be waiting for it over here, but I don't know when it's coming," he can be heard saying. "Can you call it for me please? I'm homeless."

                    In an interview, Rider, who'd been away on a hunting trip and was watching football when the crash                             occurred, said he had no idea about what had just happened blocks away.

                    He said he invited Brooks inside and gave him a jacket, made him a sandwich and let him use his phone.

                    "All of a sudden, I look outside my street and I see a few cop cars drive by and I'm getting extra nervous,"                     he said.
